On the ERB, are there some subtests that are considered particularly impressive if a kid scores really well? Are there some subtests (besides coding, which I know doesn't count) that few 99s actually do well in? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I think there are certain tests that are condsidered most corelated with general IQ: vocabulary is one. OTOH, all bets are off when it comes to four year olds. [ Reply | More ]

Right - coding doesn't count. Apparently vocabulary and similarities in verbal and block design in performance are the most important subtests. Also, it's good if a child does fairly consistently across subtests. [ Reply | More ]

coding counts equally with the other 7 subtests. Supposedly, similarities correlates best with math, oral language and total acheivement and coding shows the least correlation with reading and total acheivement. Some schools (like CGPS) claim that low coding scores do not hurt chances of getting in. [ Reply | More ]

Coding counts, too. Maybe not as much as vocab and similarities, but it counts (otherwise they'd nix it). [ Reply | More ]

Mainly, they don't want to see a big gap between subtests. They want to see evenness. I don't think they care as long as overall score is 99 and there is no big gap. If there is a big enough gap for concern, I don't think a dc can score 99 anyway. [ Reply | More ]
