I called the school, and the message said to call Jimmy Bueschen at DOE. There are rumors that some kids at our school have been called by the school, and about 1 mom w/ a kid at Lab, who supposedly has the list of kids who were accepted into Lab from our school, and is telling the parents who ask her. np: I feel your pain. My younger dc's school Principal said that the school got the middle school placement a few days ago. I checked with 5th grade friends and they said they did not get the letter or anything from school. Apparently, the school got a list. Insideschools.org said that the letter is coming out. Was UL your first choice? What is your second choice? Is it a test in school, like ESM or Salk? The parent coordinator at UL mentioned that if you get a call from your second choice for the admission test that means you did not get into your first choice. OR: Apparently we are screwed. Did not get into UL, but got into MAT as second choice. Would have been great, except that no one told us that they were only going to test the 1st choice students for the honors program, so we are only accepted to the gen ed, which is not what we want. Luckily, we have a NEST acceptance, although that was our 3rd choice and we will of course appeal for UL. I know we are still very fortunate, but really frustrated with how little and inaccurate the information has been. Good luck to everyone else! [ Reply | More

I did not realize that MAT has a honors program. I thought it is one program. Good luck to your appeal. How was NEST middle school application process? Was it different from everything else so people could have more than one acceptance? [ Reply | More

That's the confusion about MAT. I think it is a great school, but they are very vague about their honors program. Other schools (like Baruch and Wagner) require you to list their SP prgrams separately, whereas MAT does not. NEST was a separate test (OLSAT, I think), and their letter came first, and is separate from the other DOE letters. Yes, you can accept there, and also your district school (not sure if this is also true if you are District 1). [ Reply | More
