I find myself in this cycle of having to completely clean the house from top to bottom at least every 9 weeks and it ends up taking me two weeks to get done well enough to my standards. MIL comes to stay with us about once every 3 mths but if she can, the visits are closer together. I seriously think all this housecleaning is affecting my fertility. They are her standards. I personally like a slightly messy house and would rather spend time with my kids. She gives everything the white glove test and then gossips about us to SILs [ Reply | More

then you need to either not accept her as a guest or not worry about the gossip. make it as dirty as hell, keep the sheets on from her last visit and she'll stop visiting. you are kowtowing to her and she knows it. [ Reply | More
