I am a single mom of a 7 mo. I have developed extreme insomnia and have hardly slept in 2 months. I am going to be admitted to the hospital and my sister is going to take my son to her home in SF (I'm in LA). I am sooooo scared. And I cannot believe I am going to not see my son for a week or more! I feel awful. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I went into the psych ward at one month pp. Had bad insomnia, couldn't eat, couldn't calm down. It was best thing in the end although scary. What are you going in for? What unit? [ Reply | More

I think with pp mental health issues it can be hard to separate what is being caused by lack of sleep, and what is causing lack of sleep. Does the depression/anxiety come from total exhaustion and then trigger insomnia or what you know? I went in for observation for 3 days (ended up being 5 days due to w/e admission) and then 2 weeks later again for 3 days (was not getting follow up help I needed--anxiety turning to depression). I am totally well now. DS is 2.5 and I have just weaned off Zoloft competely this last week and doing very well. Best of luck to you. [ Reply | More

well, i hope it's as quick as that. docs think the insomnia is caused by ppd which i have had mildly but also have a history of depression. i just need some sleep cause i can't get more than 3 hrs a night no matter what i take and i have to take something where i can still hear him if he needs me. tough situation but it'll be ok. i hope he'll be ok, it'll be a transition for us both :-( [ Reply | More

do you know what it is about? why you can't sleep? What will help? drugs? therapy? you'll feel a lot better and will be better for him. lucky it is now and not when he is just a bit older and has a lot of separation issues. it is perfect timing. he will be fine. [ Reply | More
