2yo was referred to a developmental ped today. DH is angry about it and insists there's nothing wrong with him. In my gut, I think he ds has some sensory issues and we should have him evaluated (and the appointment's already been made), but, of course I want DH and I to be on the same page. Any one else have a similar situation? Dh agrees that it's our job to make sure that we are helping ds with any issues he might have that prevent him from thriving, but he has all this hostility toward doctors and I wish he didn't... My DH and I had the same reaction when we were referred to dev ped. it took us a while to accept that there was an issue. sometimes it just takes time. good luck. [ Reply | More ]

Stick to your guns, if you think he might need some extra support, he probably does and if he doesn't...what's the harm? [ Reply | More ]

It's really hard. I imagine your DH is in the position I was in over a year ago, which is denial, and not wanting to accept something might be wrong with my child. [ Reply | More ]
