if your 3 year old ds had been talking about wanting to wear a dress for awhile, how would you handle? would you get him a dress? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

OR above: Well I would care in the sense that I wouldn't want my child to have a gender disorder. They are generally unhappy and feel isolated, high suicide rates. I'm not saying it's always the case, sometimes a kid just wants to wear a dress. But in case it's something more, I would want to make sure my son has all my support. [ Reply | More ]

my 2 yo ds wears dresses sometimes (his older sister's dress-up clothes, and her regular dresses too). I don't think I would let him wear it out, because he's too little to understand the implications, but at home, whatever [ Reply | More ]

why not just admit that you're too embarrassed to let him wear it out? [ Reply | More ]

I would say that dresses are something girls wear, but if he wants to play dress-up, he can use some of my old dresses anytime. [ Reply | More ]

^^I would then set up a dress-up box to keep an assortment of dressup clothes. And pretend vs reality would become a topic to talk about. [ Reply | More ]
