Nothing is perfect. Did anyone catch the articles recently in the WSJ and The NYTs about the stress levels of kids in highly-regarded public schools in the NYC suburbs? Both sensationalize things a bit, but the stress of the city is talked about here a lot... and finding a strong academic peer group is too... but there are downsides to putting your child into a great school system where they are guaranteed a spot. Don't the suburban schools and kids sound just like NYC private and selective public schools? [ Reply | More ]

Yes! If you have a bright kid and want them in a strong school they are probably going to be stressed. [ Reply | More ]

There was an article in the Times recently about Horace Mann requiring kids to take a lunch break--try those search terms. [ Reply | More ]
