I just started a job and I immediately realized I hate it and want to leave. do I (a) quit almost immediately? they are training me and giving me loads of info from the last person and I'm worried they will be irate if I go through all that for weeks and then quit. Or should I (b)wait a few weeks until I'm sure I have something else, so it doesn't look as rude to quit? I have enough income from freelance to make it a good two months without a f/t job so the issue is about 80 percent worry about coming off badly...mixed with 20 percent worry about not getting another job quickly. maybe not the smartest thing to do, but i would leave immediately if you feel like it is definitely not a good fit. and leave the job off your resume altogether. [ Reply | More ]

don't quit until you have another job. unnecessarily tarnishes the resume and raises questions about your reliability. [ Reply | More ]

what if I am likely to get something else within about a month? stay that long and then just tell them, well, this great opportunity came up and I couldn't turn it down? [ Reply | More ]

I'd stay til something else arises unless you can't stand it for another second. [ Reply | More ]

if you will be okay financially - just leave. life is too short. listen to your gut - it ALWAYS has the right answer. [ Reply | More ]

tell them that you already had the application for the other job outstanding when you went to work for them. It's hard to be certain that you will get another good f/t job in 2 mos. in this economy. [ Reply | More ]
