If you were to be fired from your job would your boss have to tell you why? I'm in education, trying to find out if this is normal in all fields or if it's just a special perk of being a teacher. tia [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Not sure but I wonder if this is a union-related thing? Unions are strict about who can be fired and why. [ Reply | More ]

If I was your boss' lawyer, I would advise him/her not to tell you why. Setting them up for a lawsuit. Without a contract, you can be fired for no reason. [ Reply | More ]

it depends on the job, in many jobs you are considered an 'at will' employee. you work at the discretion of the employer, they need not give you a reason. [ Reply | More ]
