sorry that you are still waiting. I have heard that overall, there are far fewer 4's on the ELA this year. [ Reply | More ]

We are in 3rd. Fewer 4's in 4th grade or overall? [ Reply | More ]

that I don't know. I was just talking to dc's 4th grade teacher. the 3 or 4 distinction isn't really all that important. It's the scaled score that is important. You want your dc to score at least a combined 1385 so anything over a 700 on the ELA is good. good luck. Hope you get your dc's score soon. [ Reply | More ]

What is the significance of a combined 1385 and the over 700 ELA scores? [ Reply | More ]

I've always been told that to apply to A or the selective district middle schools you need to 4's. That isn't true. You need a 1385, which is 2 high 3's. [ Reply | More ]

OP: np, do you think your school is telling the truth? I find it hard to believe some schools got them and some didn't. I'm going to check with our principal Friday. [ Reply | More ]

do I think OP's school is telling the truth or PS9? I know that ps9 parents received their scores because I received my dc's score but the principal said that they hadn't received the statistics of everyone's scores yet and expected to receive them in early June. [ Reply | More ]

I was told that all the schools have the results but that DOE has not allowed schools to release them to parents because DOE is planning to make some big announcement about scores this month and wants the scores held until then. Some schools have not complied with this DOE request and have released scores to parents. [ Reply | More ]

OP again: yeah, that I can believe. And I can also believe our principal wouldn't release the scores if the DOE said not to. Good for PS 9 for releasing them early. [ Reply | More ]

Did all the "good" schools release them? I mean, the publics that have the top reputations. I just get so annoyed with our principal for not being strong. [ Reply | More ]

No, our "good" school (which I don't want to out) has not released them. [ Reply | More ]

Our school -- maybe shouldn't "out" either? but it's a good one -- did, at least the 3rd grade scores. [ Reply | More ]

OP: how were the scores? I heard that the 3rd grade curve was brutal, so you basically had to get everything right to get a 4 [ Reply | More ]

NYC Elementary Teacher here. The deal is that the schools received preliminary scores of most, but not all of the children. We have no information for kids in our school who live out of the boro or the zoned area. We are told that the official scores should be in this coming week or next week. Schools don't want to release if they don;t have everyone's score. It just wouldn't look right. The DOE hasn't told principals not to release scores, but if they don't have all of the scores yet, they won't. [ Reply | More ]
