My relatively new after-school sitter took my dd and her friend yesterday for a playdate in central park. She got the kids hotdogs. The other girls mom was clearly upset about the hotdog and I understand, let my sitter know how much so. I feel terribly all around. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

op- When my sitter told me about it, several hours after it happened, she seemed very upset by it. I just hope she shakes it off, should I do anything about it? I've let her know she shouldn't be upset and we've both learned to find out in advance about rules when having a playdate. [ Reply | More ]

I get that every family has its own rules. But the other mother was being crazy, and it sounds like she confronted your sitter directly, which would bug me. [ Reply | More ]

Feel terrible for what the sitter did or that you had to say something to her? I hate confrontation so I think I know how you feel. [ Reply | More ]

It was my sitter it happened to. I feel badly it happened as I like all the people involved very much and hope it does't have any negative effects. [ Reply | More ]

the hot dog? was it not cut up? or was it the hot dog itself? i personally would not be happy to have soemone else's sitter buy food for my dc at all. but not necessarily the hot dog aspect of it. [ Reply | More ]

How old are the girls? Was the other mom around or was your sitter watching both girls? If the mom had ANY food issues, she should have told the sitter. Central Park is not exactly the Four Seasons. The options are Pretzels, Churros, Ice Cream and yes, Hot Dogs. Last time I checked there were no organic or green options there at all, unless you bring them in yourself. I feel sorry for your sitter, but I would have a conversation with the other mom and not be that apologetic either. She should not have chewed out your sitter. [ Reply | More ]

The girls are 6 1/2. They made a plan together, the sitter was alone with the girls in the park. I assume the mom didn't expect they'd get something that would be considered a meal and I can assume after this hot dogs are a big no for her. [ Reply | More ]

np: My DS is same age. I'd be taking it up with him, not the sitter - he knows our food rules at this point. [ Reply | More ]
