Help! Just found that moths have taken a chunk out of my Tibetan carpet. An area that was under a piece of furniture - it's not an old rug nor had the furniture been there long. What do I do. It was a very expensive rug. TIA [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It can be repaired. Ask the dealer/retailer from whom you bought it for recommendations. If you have trouble, post here again and I can ask a rug dealer I know for referrals. [ Reply | More

Keep this post on watch and just reply here again. In the meantime, I'll check with my dealer as well. FYI: she has said the only thing fatal to rugs are urine and cigarette burns. Everything else can be repaired. [ Reply | More

OR: In case you need a second estimate, my dealer suggested trying Costykian - a rug repair outfit in Queens. She hasn't used them directly but they have a good reputation and are more geared for the general public (they pick up and deliver and give free estimates.) She also said you should be prepared: a 3x5 hole will be big $$$ to reweave.... [ Reply | More
