I have a question out of curiosity. My dd's friend is almost 4 and is a nice kid all around however, when my dd or I try to talk to her she just repeats sentences over and over. When asked a direct question (what is your fav. animal?), she'll answer "I'm a butterfly." Then I'll ask a diff. way and she'll say "bec. butterflies have colors," Etc. Etc. Her mom is worried but this is within normal, right? I don't know what to say to her. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

That answer is not helpful. OP, go to YBM. More SN moms there. [ Reply | More ]

listen, respind differently. say, 'i don';t know what you mean' until she answers the answer correctly. is she always, ever single time, doing this? [ Reply | More ]

OP: I've tried that. She just talks in circles. Her parents roll their eyes when she does this but I know the mom is a little worried. I just try to reassure but it got me curious. [ Reply | More ]

If the mom is asking your advice, suggest an evaluation by a developmental pediatrician. [ Reply | More ]
