Is there someone you can call to check on air quality/allergens in your home? Recently moved to Brooklyn and feel as if we always have congestion/sinus headaches when we come into our building and apartment. Anyone btdt? Tia [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

We recently moved from Brooklyn to DC - and the change in our sinuses has been remarkable (even WITH the huge increase in plant allergens that exist here). [ Reply | More ]

^^ and we had one of those very expensive, super good air purifiers in our apartment in Brooklyn too. There's just not much you can do about how much the air pollution from cars, etc. [ Reply | More ]

^^^sorry! re. air purifier, there seem to be so many choices. Don't mind forking out for a good one (or two!) because this is just too awful! We start sneezing as soon as we enter the building, then after a while in the apartment, it just feels so uncomfortable with the sinus pressure. Whole family is on singulair which has helped a little. Tia [ Reply | More ]

We got one made by IQ Air - it was about $900. We lived in Brooklyn for 8 years - Boerum Hill and Brooklyn Heights. [ Reply | More ]

op:sorry, not sure what happened but I couldn't post! Thanks for the info. Enjoy DC - it's actually not a place I associate with good air quality but if you say it's better after 8 yrs in Brooklyn, it really must be better! This is incredibly annoying that we just moved into a place we love and can't breathe well!!!! [ Reply | More ]

NP: So interesting! Are you in the district? I found the summers there unbearable with the air quality, humidity, etc. [ Reply | More ]

Yes - we're in Mt. Pleasant. We were surprised too - because we have both lived in the DC area before and had recollections of how bad our allergies were here. [ Reply | More ]
