nyc and & ny 'burb moms, do you think the economy & real estate here is tanking? I only know 1 person whose been laid off and madison ave still seems packed. also, i was at saks the other day just looking and the new shoe place was crazy busy at 11am! what are you seeing? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

look at the real estate ads. rpices are coming down, stuff isn't moving much, and i can see a lto of new apts being sold very fast at lower prices than they were bought for. [ Reply | More ]

My friend looked at one that dropped about 100K also - it was in the $1 Million area as well. I think real estate is slowing finally. When we rented we got concessions, could leisurely consider apartments... [ Reply | More ]

there is a great web site called natefind.com that gives daily lists of the apartments that have been reduced in price. Lots of apartments being reduced 10% or even more. [ Reply | More ]

i think the wealthy are still living it up. so you'll see the designer stores stay crowded. i think the middle class (like me) are the ones that are/will be cutting back. the ones that had to juggle some finances to afford a cleaning lady may decide it's not worth it any more. the ones who keep to a grocery budget and suddenly realize they aren't getting as much for hteir money as they used to.
